EDMOND — Two Edmond soccer teams will vie for state championships later this week.

The defending Class 5A champion Deer Creek girls will face Carl Albert on Friday while the Edmond North boys will take on Norman North on Saturday.

Both championship games were set to be played in Tulsa, but according to the website of the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association, the games would be moved  to the Oklahoma City area if both teams involved were from the west side of the state.

Both games will be at Noble High School, with Deer Creek playing at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Edmond North taking the field at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Deer Creek advanced with a 2-0 win over Tulsa Edison at home.

The Huskies took a 2-1 semifinal win over Jenks at home.

Also on the Huskies field, the third-ranked Edmond North girls fell 2-0 to second-ranked Jenks.
