Deer Creek boys take Edmond Pre-State meet

EDMOND — Edmond Santa Fe hosted the Edmond Pre-State cross country meet on Friday.

Deer Creek’s Bryce Balenseifen ran a 16:17.57 to take first place individually, and pace his team to a win in the Class 5A boys 5K. The Metro Christian girls took first in 5A, followed by the Deer Creek girls, who were paced by Rachel Lewis in fifth place.

The Mustang girls and Bishop Kelley boys won the Class 6A races.

Edmond North, Edmond Memorial and Edmond Santa Fe finished 6-7-8 in the 6A girls race. Jaci Smith and Jenny Mehner led North, in fourth and 10th place; Jaclyn Hummel was seventh for Memorial; Rachel Davis led four Santa Fe runners who finished within two seconds of one another.

The Memorial Bulldogs and North Huskies finished 2-3 behind Bishop Kelley in the 6A boys contest. Santa Fe was seventh. Memorial’s Alex Shook was third and North’s Austin Mayer was ninth individually; Christian Powell led Santa Fe at 23rd.

The Heritage Hall girls and Anadarko boys won the Class 4A runs.
