OCS wins state cheer title

EDMOND — The Oklahoma Christian School varsity cheer team won the Class 4A state championship in September at Oklahoma State University. The Saints had a raw score of 417 out of a possible 500 points, besting second-place Mount St. Mary’s 403.

The squad includes Brady Skinner, Caroline Hogan, Caitlin Arnold, Gabrielle Hefner, Jessica Tunnell, Ali Standard, Lauren Heim, Jordan Clark, Holly Hoehner, Keely Merritt, Natalie Blakley, Grace Gilchrist, Micah Wallis, Paige Wekenborg, Jessi Standard, Christyn Mask, Riley Rohrer, Elli Henley, Cameron Cato, Ashton Cato and Kristin White.

Edmond North placed second in Class 6A competition, in a virtual dead heat with champion Norman North and third-place Union. Edmond Memorial was eighth in 6A.

Edmond Santa Fe fielded a co-ed team that placed fifth among large schools.

Deer Creek took fifth place in Class 5A competition.
