Oklahoma Christian School led only 11-6 at the break, but the Class 2A state defending champions ended up tripling Tonkawa’s points in an 18-6 win at Tonkawa Friday night. OCS, 2-0, will play at Jones next week, the only team to stop the Saints last fall.
With just 5:22 left in regulation, Oklahoma Christian’s Luke Frankfurt broke loose for 21 yards to put the game in hand for the 18-6 final. Frankfurt also opened the scoring in the second quarter with a 1-yard plunge to pay dirt to go along with 109 yards rushing for a 7.0-yard-per-carry average.
The Saints’ other score came on a 21-yard Jack Markmiller field goal.
At quarterback, OCS’s Will McKinnis connected on 16-of-29 passes for 174 yards with Corbin Metz catching 74 yards of that on four grabs. Teammate Cameron James also nabbed four catches, taking them for a total of 60 yards.
