The Independent Insurance Agents of Oklahoma (IIAO), the state’s largest insurance and property casualty agents association, today announced details of the 2013 Trusted Choice Big “I” Golf Classic for boys and girls ages 13-18. The top two male qualifiers and top female qualifier will represent Oklahoma in the Trusted Choice Big “I” National Championship tournament Aug. 5-8 at the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst, N.C.
The qualifying tournament will be held June 26 at KickingBird Golf Club. Entries are open to the first 70 boys, age 13-18 (not started college or reached age 19 as of Aug. 8, 2013) with a recommended handicap of 10 or less. All girls, ages 13-18, are eligible to participate if registered by June 18. Boys will play 36 holes and girls will play 18 holes.
“The Trusted Choice Big “I” Junior Golf Classic is a nationally recognized tournament for teenage amateur golfers that began in 1969 and is designed to foster good sportsmanship and healthy competition among youth,” said Dan Ramsey, IIAO President and Chief Executive Officer. “Our state qualifying tournament traditionally draws a strong field with many of the participants carrying handicaps of 10 or less. It will be an exciting competition at KickingBird to see which three players emerge to represent Oklahoma at the Trusted Choice Big “I” National Championship tournament in Pinehurst, N.C.”
Oklahoma national champions include Logan McCracken of Oklahoma City in 2008 and Tracy Phillips of Tulsa in 1979.
