Following a pair of painful losses to the University of Oklahoma, the University of Central Oklahoma will close out their regular season at home tonight at the Arctic Edge Ice Arena, welcoming unranked North Dakota State University as the Bronchos prepare for a likely ACHA National Tournament berth.
The No. 15 Bronchos (21-14) come in after being swept last weekend by the Sooners, with a 3-2 loss at home followed by a 12-1 defeat on Oklahoma’s home ice. The Bison (5-9) last-reported score was an 8-5 win over St. Cloud State on Feb. 2.
UCO continues to be led offensively by freshmen, with Jordan Bledsoe taking the team points lead behind nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points, while Riley Spraggs is close behind with 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points. Incumbent starting goalie Tory Caldwell comes in to the series with a 3.15 GAA and a .91 save percentage.
The Bronchos will spend the next week and a half preparing for the 2013 ACHA National Tournament in Bensenville, Ill. UCO will face Niagara in the first round Friday.
