KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
Central Oklahoma’s Kenny Allen has been selected Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Defensive Player of the Week for his performance last Saturday, the league office announced this week.
The sophomore defensive tackle from Perkins was a dominating force on the front line in helping UCO capture its first win of the season with a 49-42 Homecoming victory over Lincoln.
Allen collected a career-high 14 tackles with 5.0 for loss, including a couple of sacks for minus-15 yards. He also recovered a fumble. The fumble recovery at the Lincoln 33-yard-line led to a short field goal that gave Central Oklahoma a 46-35 fourth-quarter lead and he had a third-down sack that forced a late-game punt when the Bronchos were clinging to a 46-42 lead.
Allen is the third-leading tackler on the season for the Bronchos with 44 and he tops the team in both tackles for loss (11.5) and sacks (4.5).
UCO continues league play Saturday when it travels to Bolivar, Mo. to face Southwest Baptist at 1 p.m.
