EDMOND — After going 5-2 on the road to open up the season, including a win against No. 1 Arizona State, the University of Central Oklahoma hockey team returns home Thursday night to take on fellow future Western Collegiate Hockey League member Colorado State, with face-off at 7:30 p.m. at the Arctic Edge Ice Arena.
The No. 17 Bronchos (16-13) will be playing their first home action of the second half of the season, following a seven-game road trip to New York and Arizona. Freshmen continue to define the Bronchos' offense, with Riley Spraggs leading in in goals (11) and points (21), while Jordan Bledsoe leads in assists (12). In net, sophomore Tory Caldwell holds a 3.15 GAA with a .90 save percentage.
For the Division-II Rams (13-9-3), currently ranked No. 3 in the West region, they will be looking to rebound after playing Grand Valley State to a 2-2 tie on Jan. 20. The Rams are led by points leader Jamison Wicks, a NCAA Division III transfer who has 31 points off of 15 goals. He is helped by assists leader Paul Jenkins, who has 18 on the year. In net, grad student Corson Cramer boasts a 2.72 GAA with a .91 save percentage.
Scheduled games for Jan. 25 and Jan. 26 against Villanova have been cancelled, with the Wildcats pulling out due to financial reasons. Admission is $7, $5 for UCO students and faculty with ID, and free for children 5 and under.
