Central Oklahoma cross country coach J.D. Martin announced the addition of five high school runners and a junior college All-American to the roster for 2014.
Prep standouts signing with the Bronchos were Rylee Bellmon of Perry High School, Deven Bond of Poteau High School, Maddie Brown of Jenks High School, Sheri Synder of Deer Creek High School and Harley Wright of Saginaw (Texas) High School in addition to Danae McGee of Allen (Kan.) Community College.
“I’m really excited about this group of runners,” Martin said. “They have all had a lot of success and should really give us a big boost next year.”
Bellmon enjoyed a stellar career at Perry, earning All-State honors as a senior for the Maroons after winning a regional title and finishing fifth in the state meet. She was also a state runner-up in the high jump and a basketball letter winner at Perry.
Bond was an All-State selection as a senior at Poteau and Brown was a three-time All-State performer at Jenks while helping the Trojans capture a pair of state championships. She also ran on a state title-winning 3200 meter relay team at Jenks.
Snyder led Deer Creek to its first-ever cross country state title in her senior campaign, winning a regional crown before finishing fifth in the Class 5A meet.
Wright was a three-time regional qualifier at Saginaw.
McGee won a cross country state championship and two track state titles at Davenport High School before going on the Allen, where she earned junior college All-America honors both years with sixth- and 10th-place finishes.
