Warm, windy day on Saturday

Associated Press

OKLAHOMA CITY It will be a warm, windy Saturday across Oklahoma.

The National Weather Service said high pressure will remain in control through Sunday. A storm system will make a run at the southern Plains, bringing a chance of precipitation to the state Monday and Tuesday.

Temperatures are expected to moderate but stay on the mild side.

On Friday, clear skies and southerly winds helped temperatures soar to above-average levels. Daytime highs ranged from 76 degrees in Hobart and Oklahoma City to 90 degrees in Gage, according to the weather service.

The mercury peaked at 79 degrees in Enid, Frederick and Tulsa.

The wildfire potential will remain high to very high across parts of the state on Saturday as strong, gusty winds not only draw moisture from the Gulf of Mexico northward but also dry out vegetation.

Skies should be sunny Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures topping out in the 70s and 80s on Saturday and the 70s on Sunday, forecasters said. Lows Saturday night should fall into the 40s and 50s.

Mostly cloudy conditions are expected by Monday, along with a slight chance of showers. Daytime highs should cool into a range from the upper 50s in the Oklahoma Panhandle to the 70s in eastern Oklahoma, forecasters said.

Lows in the 40s and 50s are predicted for Monday night.

A slight chance of showers will linger on Tuesday as temperatures settle in the 60s for highs. Lows should range from the upper 30s in the Panhandle to around 50 in southeast Oklahoma Tuesday night.

Highs should reach the 60s and 70s under mostly clear skies on Wednesday. Lows should tumble into the 30s and 40s Wednesday night, the weather service said.
