Cleveland County fair is coming soon

NORMAN — Everyone is welcome at the Cleveland County Free Fair on Sept. 6-8.

The annual event at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds, 615 E. Robinson St. in Norman, is the fair’s 105th year. In addition to livestock shows, carnival rides and many family fun activites, a few special items will highlight this year’s festivities.

The Antique and Classic Car Show on Sept. 7-8 has no entry fee and no classes. The People’s Choice Awards are given to the top three entries. Car show entrants should enter the fairgrounds from the west gate on Porter Avenue, from Wrights IGA. Call Larry Hinton at 250-9131 for more information.

Entries are due by noon Sept. 8 for the second annual Cake and Cupcake Contest at the Free Fair. Entries in the cupcake wars will be taken until 12:30 p.m. The contest will be in room C at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds.

Items must be baked and decorated before the contest. No decorating will be allowed after arrival at the fairgrounds. The youth class is for ages 9-18. The adult competition is for ages 19 and up. For more information, see www.clevelandcountyfair.org.

A dog talent show at 4 p.m. Sept. 8 will feature canines of all sizes. The show is limited to the first 10 per age class. There are four human age categories for the competition. Dogs can do anything from speaking to sitting and any other trick they may have. Participant are allowed 2.5 minutes of stage time to perform for the judges.
