OKLA. CITY —
A person’s lifetime risk of getting cancer is about 1 in 2. Last year, about 1.6 million Americans were diagnosed with cancer, including more than 19,000 Oklahomans.
The Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation has two departments dedicated to better understanding how cancer develops and looking for new ways to diagnose and treat the disease. OMRF is launching a $10 million fundraising campaign to hire a new senior-level scientist, expand research staff and update labs and equipment focused on advancing cancer research. OMRF has raised $3.1 million so far.
