OKLA. CITY —
Oklahoma City University’s Bass School of Music will join Canterbury Choral Society April 13 for a rare performance of Leonard Bernstein’s “Mass” at the Civic Center Music Hall.
Bernstein’s daughter, Jamie Bernstein, and “Mass” orchestrator Jonathan Tunick will attend the performance at 8 p.m., April 13 at the Civic Center, 201 N. Walker.
“Mass,” a musical theater work, was commissioned by Jacqueline Kennedy following President John F. Kennedy’s death and premiered on Sept. 8, 1971. The Oklahoma premiere this year coincides with the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy’s time in office and assassination.
The score will be performed by the 80-member Oklahoma City University Symphony Orchestra.
