Kern promotes Morality Proclamation
OKLAHOMA CITY — State Rep. Sally Kern has launched a proclamation for morality at a state Capitol rally where she was heckled by protesters who urged her to "love they neighbor."
About 200 people appeared for Thursday's rally meant to gather signatures for the proclamation. The document declares the need for a spiritual renewal to address societal problems.
Kern made headlines last year when she said homosexuality is a greater threat to the United States than terrorism.
Her proclamation says the nation has become a world leader in promoting abortion, pornography, same-sex marriage, sex trafficking, divorce, illegitimate births, child abuse "and many other forms of debauchery."
Opponents say they are offended by the proclamation. Chuck Thornton of the ACLU of Oklahoma says the document creates an atmosphere of hate.
