2 people arrested in Norman homicide

NORMAN — Police have arrested two people on a first-degree murder complaint in the death of a man whose body was found in a burned car in east Norman.

Oklahoma City residents Antonio Mendoza and Sheila Starr were taken into custody on Saturday in connection with the death of 46-year-old Julian Ramirez Cazarez.

Cazarez's body was found Sunday morning. The state Medical Examiner's office says he died from asphixial strangulation.

Norman Police Master Officer Jennifer Newell says Cazarez was reported as a missing person to Oklahoma City police on Monday.

Mendoza and Starr were booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center without bond.
