ENID — A Garfield County Sheriffs Office deputy was able to escape his patrol car and avoid injury when the car was hit by a train.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Deputy James Brinson was responding to a call Sunday morning when he swerved to avoid a deer standing near the tracks. The patrol car went off the road and swerved onto the tracks where it was high-centered and couldn't be moved.
Brinson got out of the car and was safely away when it was hit by the train.
