EDMOND — Continuing its mission to promote student success, the University of Central Oklahoma saw noticeable increases in its spring 2010 enrollment compared to enrollment last spring.
The semester’s most notable increases include a 6.7-percent enrollment increase in freshmen, and a 14.1-percent increase in graduate students.
Total student enrollment — including undergraduate and graduate students — rose 4.1 percent from last spring, bringing the total number of students at UCO from 14,510 in spring 2009 to 15,104 in spring 2010.
“Without a doubt, the demand for higher education increases during economic downturns, so therefore we realize we must be creative in our recruitment efforts and retention efforts. I believe our hard work has been fruitful, and our numbers display our tremendous efforts,” said Myron Pope, vice president of Enrollment Management at UCO.
“We have tried to develop a more complete campus life experience program to ensure we educate the full student, and that’s what we’ve consistently tried to achieve through our focus on transformative learning so our students may become productive, creative, ethical and engaged citizens and leaders.”
Other increases for this semester also include a 26.8-percent increase in Hispanic students, and a 6.1-increase in international students.

'Colors of Dreams' opens at UCO
