The University of Central Oklahoma’s College of Liberal Arts will host its fourth annual “Hour for an Hour” scholarship luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 28 in Central’s Nigh University Center Ballrooms.
This scholarship luncheon invites alumni, faculty and friends of Central for a one-hour event to raise funds for liberal arts student scholarships. Guests are asked to underwrite at least one credit hour of undergraduate tuition at $148.65 to help create scholarship opportunities for the 2013 fall semester.
During the event, guests will hear firsthand the importance of scholarship support by listening to the stories of three Central students: Jasmine Smith, a senior majoring in English education; Sam Merchant, a senior majoring in philosophy; and Sarah Webb, a graduate student majoring in museum studies.
“Every dollar counts. Especially when you see students have to make difficult decisions about their future over the cost of just one credit hour,” said Gary Steward, Ph.D., dean of UCO’s College of Liberal Arts.
“It is humbling to think that in just one hour, you have the opportunity to change the course of someone’s life.”
All funds raised at the event will be available for the fall 2013 semester to help qualified students with their college education expenses.
There is no cost to attend the luncheon; however a reservation is required by Feb. 17.
Those unable to attend the luncheon can watch the live feed via the UCO College of Liberal Arts website at www.uco.edu/la/ and also give directly online at www.ucogiving.org.
