Langston University class to hold 50th anniversary reunion
The Langston University class of 1959 will meet for their 50th anniversary class reunion during homecoming festivities on Oct. 15-17 on the main campus at Langston. The reunion activities will include a reception immediately following the game and reserved seating at the game for all members of the freshmen class of ’55 and senior class of ’59 who register for the reunion.
The registration fee for the Reunion is $50 per class member and $30 for each additional guest and should be made payable to Rose Varner Payne. Registration includes lunch, tent and chair rental. Every registered is requested to contribute at least $35 toward the Class goal of $1,959 for the scholarship fund. Higher donations of $100 or more are encouraged. Checks should be made payable to Langston University Scholarship Fund.

Vonnie Ware Roberts, Langston University Director of Alumni Affairs said that the university every year has encouraged classes to hold reunions, and she is pleased to see the enthusiasm that has been expressed by members of this class.

Johnson earns Master of Science
Robin Renee Johnson of Edmond was one of 177 undergraduate and graduate students to receive degrees in August from Midwestern State University. She received a Master of Science in nursing.
Cross named to Top 20 Freshman Women at OSU
Brittany Cross of Edmond has been named to the Top Twenty Freshman Women at Oklahoma State University for 2009.
Selection of students, who are now in their sophomore year at OSU, is based upon scholarship, community service, campus involvement and outstanding leadership from their freshman year.
She will now continue through the interview process from which the Top Ten Freshman Women will be selected. Mortar Board is responsible for choosing students for the Top Ten Freshman Women and the Top Ten Freshman Men.
Cross, a human nutrition major, is the daughter of Lonny Cross and Penny Cross. She is a 2008 graduate of Oklahoma Christian Upper School.
She was selected as a College of Human Environmental Sciences Freshman Scholar Leader and for Phi Eta Sigma honor society and has been active in the Nutrition Club and as an HES Ambassador and on the Camp Cowboy staff. Scholarships she has received include a four-year OSU Academic Excellence Scholarship.
The Top Ten Freshman Men and Top Ten Freshman Women will be formally recognized, along with their families, during a ceremony on Sept.19 in the Willard Living Room on the OSU campus, and later in the day during a ceremony at the OSU football game.
