Guardsman reports items missing from locker

EDMOND — Items including a ballistic vest, an advanced combat helmet and a large field sack were reported stolen from a locker at the Edmond armory, an incident report states.

During the evening of Dec. 14, Edmond Police Officer Roger Shortt was dispatched to the National Guard Armory, 600 S. Bryant, to take information about a larceny, according to the incident report filed by Shortt.

Shortt stated the victim said on Sept. 8, after a drill meeting, he secured his gear in a wall locker in an armory room; the locker was secured with a padlock. When the victim returned Dec. 14, he found the padlock had been removed and the locker was empty.

Value of the items, which also included wet weather gear and an entrenching tool, was not listed.

Shortt stated the victim did not have any suspect information; several hundred people move in and out of the building on a regular basis. The victim needed a Police Department incident report to accompany his own report to his National Guard chain of command, Shortt stated.
