Rezoning makes way for acreage homes

EDMOND — The Edmond City Council agreed 5-0 this week to rezone an area from general agricultural to rural estate dwelling on a 21-acre tract on the west side of Douglas Boulevard and north of Coffee Creek Road.

Nearby development includes the Pheasant Pointe addition to the northwest and Coffee Creek Estates to the south of Coffee Creek Road. The Woodland Park development is planned to the east of the tract, said Bob Schiermeyer, city planner.

Utilities are not available at the site, so the residential lots would develop with water wells and septic or aerobic systems on 2-acre lots, Schiermeyer said.

“We expect to develop 7-acreage lots,” said engineer Ernie Isch, representing North Douglas Holdings LLC.
