EDMOND —
Five suspects allegedly came down out of a piece of playground equipment at an Edmond park, struck the victim and took $50 from him, an incident report shows.
At about 3 a.m. March 10, Police Officer William Wright was dispatched to a residence on South State to take a report regarding assault and battery, according to the report filed by Wright. The offense is also listed as a strong-arm robbery.
The victim said that about 12:30 a.m. he was walking through Chitwood Park, located near the intersection of West First Street and Story Street, when five males came down out of the rocket ship, Wright stated. The victim said there was one bald white male and four black males ranging from 6-feet, 5-inches to 7-feet tall, the report stated.
They were acting nice at first saying they were in town from Nebraska for a couple of days, Wright stated. One of the males struck him from behind and once he was on the ground they held him down and punched him in the face, the report stated.
Wright stated the victim said the males took $50 from his pocket and left the park in a gray Impala.
Wright stated he observed some swelling on the victim’s face and advised him to come to the station in a couple of days when the bruising was visible and officers would take some photos.
The victim said he probably would go the hospital because his jaw was hurting, Wright stated.
Chitwood Park hours are from dawn to dusk, according to the City of Edmond. A pavilion is open until 10 p.m.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 359-4420 and ask for a detective.
