A photo of Boy Scout Troop 89 from Edmond was recently selected by “Boy’s Life” as the magazine’s photo of the month.
The photo is of the scouts at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, N.M., this summer.
In the photo, the scouts are at the base of Mount Baldy, at an elevation of 12,414 feet, overlooking a large valley in New Mexico to the west. They are just about to start the final ascent of 400 feet to the top.
Philmont was an 80-mile trek through the northern mountain region of New Mexico. The trek started at 6,000 feet and went over Mt. Baldy. The trek was 11 days long.
