Memorial band takes third in state contest


EDMOND — The Edmond High School marching bands spent Halloween showing the state what they could do at the 2009 6A Oklahoma Bandmaster Association Marching Championship at the University of Central Oklahoma’s Wantland Stadium.

In the preliminary competition, Edmond Memorial came in third with a score of 83.8, Edmond North came in 15th with a score of 68.8 and Edmond Santa Fe came in 16th with a score of 67.5. In finals competition, Edmond Memorial, the only Edmond school to advance, came in third place with a score of 82.95.

Other schools participating in this year’s competition were Broken Arrow, Tulsa Union, Jenks, Westmoore, Moore, Bartlesville, Yukon, Sapulpa, Putnam City North, Enid, Mustang, Southmoore, Stillwater, Choctaw, Charles Page and Tulsa Memorial.

The Class 1A-3A OBA contest took place on Oct. 10 in Bixby and the 4A-5A contest took place Oct. 24 in Tulsa. For more information, visit www.okbandmasters.com.
