EDMOND —
A suspect accused of threatening to kill employees at an Edmond church faces a felony charge in a separate incident, court records show.
On Monday, Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater filed a felony indecent exposure charge against Michael Seockjin Moon, 18, of Edmond. On March 13, Prater filed a misdemeanor threatening to perform an act of violence charge against Moon in the alleged incident at the First Presbyterian Church of Edmond.
Moon has entered a plea of not guilty regarding the charge related to the incident at the church, court records show. He is being held without bond in the county jail in that matter. A disposition hearing is scheduled for March 27 in Oklahoma County District Court.
On Feb. 3, a woman told officers she was running on a jogging trail on the south side of Whispering Heights Park, 3707 Grandview Terrace, when she saw a male exposing himself, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed Monday by Detective Chris Cook.
The victim said she was about 20 feet away from the male who was watching children playing in the park while he was exposing himself, Cook stated in the affidavit. As she was approaching the male he began to look at her, she stated.
On March 6, the victim had called the Edmond Police Department and said she saw of photograph of the male in this case on the news, Cook stated. He is the same defendant accused in the incident at the church, he stated.
On March 12, the victim went to the station and looked at a photo lineup that included the defendant, Cook stated. She picked the defendant out of the lineup and said she was positive he was the male she saw exposing himself on Feb. 3, he stated.
At the church, employees told officers they were in the building when the defendant approached them and said he was supposed to kill sinners, Marvin Houston, First Presbyterian facilities director said in a previous report.
The incident caused nearby schools to be placed on heightened security. The defendant was found playing tennis and was detained at the Edmond Racquet Club, 425 Lilac Drive, police said.
A future court date related to the indecent exposure charge has not been scheduled, according to court records.
