Uptown Grocery Co. bags hunger

Portion of Saturday sales benefit Regional Food Bank

Special to The Sun

EDMOND — Uptown Grocery Co. will once again donate a portion of Saturday’s sales to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma through its annual “Let’s Bag Hunger” event. Employees and volunteers from the Regional Food Bank will be on hand to raise awareness about hunger, accept donations and assist customers with their groceries.

“We appreciate the opportunity to participate in this event again,” said Rodney Bivens, executive director of the Regional Food Bank. “We want to thank Uptown Grocery Co. for their ongoing support of our efforts to fight hunger in Oklahoma.”

Last year, more than $10,500 was raised through the event to help provide food for chronically hungry children.

“We are honored to support the Regional Food Bank with this donation,” said Hank Binkowski, owner of Uptown Grocery Co. “We look forward to having their team at our store this month as we celebrate our anniversary. We hope to make a significant contribution again this year, which will benefit the Food for Kids program.”

Uptown Grocery is at 1230 W. Covell Road in Edmond and is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Donations from customers will be accepted at each of the check-out lanes throughout the day on March 15.
