Ashley Corbett has been working for the Edmond Public Schools for five years and she has been chosen Outstanding District Support Personnel for Sunset Elementary School. She is someone you should know.
Corbett serves as the Financial Secretary for Sunset. She takes care of all the purchase orders, requisitions and deposits as well as taking care of all the little ones who come in the office for band aids, ice packs, discipline issues, and helping any parents or teachers with any needs they might have.
“The thing I love most about my job is the family we have at Sunset,” Corbett said. “The teachers and administration are a well-oiled team and it makes coming to work feel like coming home every day.”
Before being hired Corbett was a stay at home mom for many years and prior to that she was an office manager for a dental office.
She has been married for 20 years to her husband Mike and they have five daughters, ages 18, 18, 16, 12 and 12.
One daughter is a freshman at Oklahoma State University and one will be leaving for the Navy soon, Corbett said. The three youngest attend Sequoyah Middle School.
In the summer Corbett spends the time with children.
“We do outings and pool time,” she said.
“I love to read. It is the thing that relaxes me and is my favorite way to end the day,” Corbett said.
She said when she is off work multiple days she loves to take road trips with her family.
“At night when I get home from work I love to read a book or watch my favorite criminal shows,” Corbett said, adding that she is very partial to “Law and Order SVU,” “Bull,” and “Grey’s Anatomy.”
She and her family attend Crossings church at the Edmond location.
