As a part of OU Medicine’s statewide source for the most comprehensive breast health care network, patients are given availability to the highest level of preventative medicine, early detection and individual treatment at Breast Health Network Edmond, formerly Breast Imaging of Oklahoma.

Breast Health Network is the state’s largest, most comprehensive group of physician radiologists and breast specialists, working together to bring Oklahomans the highest level of breast care.

The latest technology along with experienced physicians in their field go together to make the best support system for women and their breast health issues.

Members of the all-woman team of doctors includes Dr. Lori Fredrick, Dr. Ashley Magness, Dr. Kelly McDonough, Dr. Debra Mitchell and Dr. Tina Dickerson.

The group of board-certified breast radiologists offers women an environment where the team uses the newest, most technologically advanced digital mammography equipment. 3D mammography (known as tomosynthesis), can more accurately detect cancers at an earlier stage.

Breast tomosynthesis finds breast cancer at its earliest stage by producing a series of one-millimeter slices that can be viewed as 3D reconstruction of the breast. By more accurately detecting at an earlier stage, the chances of diagnosing the disease before it becomes life-threatening increases.

The Edmond location offers C=view, a new 3D imaging technology with the lowest dose of radiation in the market.

Breast MRI services are offered as well as breast ultrasound.

Non-surgical breast biopsy methods are available, including ultrasound, MRI-guided, and stereotactic approaches using a vacuum-assisted biopsy device or basic core biopsy. Cyst aspiration is available as well as ductography/galactography, osteoporosis/bone density screening.

The process of risk assessment includes an interview and based on an individual’s level of risk, a specialist will make recommendations to ensure all of the screening tools are being used. Genetic testing may be suggested and counseling is available.

The OU team’s strength lies in caring for the whole patient by relieving stress and making quick diagnostic results possible with acceptance of self-referrals and convenient hours.

Breast Health Network Edmond is a Center of Excellence as determined by the American College of Radiology. By awarding the status of Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes that the Edmond facility has earned accreditation in all of the college’s voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, as well as the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.
