ShowBiz Cinemas is preparing to open in Edmond on Tuesday offering a full range of entertainment options.

ShowBiz Cinemas’ Edmond Bowling, Movies and More! entertainment centerwill celebrate its opening at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18 said Beth Miska, director of marketing. A a ribbon-cutting ceremony and VIP red-carpet event with special guests Chuck and Gena Norris is at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

The new 65,000 square-foot, freestanding entertainment center, located on the northwest corner of U.S. Interstate 35 and Covell Rd., was originally scheduled to open to the public on Friday, Dec. 14.

“Due to circumstances beyond our control, we will now open our Edmond location to the public on Tuesday, Dec. 18,” said Kevin Mitchell, ShowBiz Cinemas CEO. “We appreciate everyone’s patience and look forward to being your new home for bowling, movies and more.”

Ten movie theaters provide comfort in every reclining seat. A sophisticated sound display with acute delivery provides the theater goer more than sound — it is hearing the movement of sound through various points of the theatre to provide a dynamic experience. The spacious SDX House is a premium auditorium with Adobe Atmos sound.

Tickets are for sale online as well at the theatre. Every Tuesday is Discount Tuesday Day and the theatre will offer discount tickets starting at $5 for all the shows. Also, a free loyalty program offers star rewards for customers to sign up and earn a free point for every $5 they spend. There is also a redemption room for prizes.

“Once you’ve accrued enough points you can redeem them for free movie tickets,” Miska said.

The lowest ticket price will be the $5 Tuesday ticket, Miska continued. Seniors will find their tickets discounted to $5 on every Monday. Tickets range up to $7 for a child’s ticket, $10 for an adult matinee, and $12 for the spacious SDX theatre.

Discounts are available for police and firefighters, college students, senior citizens and military, said Rob Warnes, chief operating officer.

He added that sometimes the first responders bring their families with them.

“This is great, but for us it helps to know we have a secured property,” he said. “Any time of the day you might have a couple of officers or a couple of paramedic firefighters attending.”

Customers can purchase snacks at a concession stand or order menu and bar items at the full-service bar. A party room is provided, and the theatre provides clean-up and party decorations.

Cocktails can be taken into the 10 movie theaters. Special movie cocktails are offered. Fourteen bowling lanes are behind the bar.

A coffee bar and ice cream shop is available. Customers may choose to be entertained there while enjoying their cafe meal. Standard concession items are also provided along with an extensive range of game items in other areas.
