Downtown Edmond Business Association volunteer of the month is Brittany Willison with the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce.
Willison has worked at the chamber for one year, but also previously worked there a few years ago as an intern and information specialist.
She is the Director of Communications and Marketing which means she is in charge of the chamber's publications, website, social media, press releases, ribbon cuttings and groundbreakings, videography, photography and a handful of other things. She also directs the Edmond Young Professionals program.
This was Brittany's first year to work as the Children's Area Chairperson for the Arts Festival and she did a phenomenal job, said a DEBA spokesperson.
"I was so impressed by the kids who visited the children’s area. They were all so respectful and thankful. My favorite part was seeing parents interacting with their kids, I got to witness a lot of sweet moments," Willison said.
Willison enjoys living in Edmond because it is such a unique place. She feels Edmond really has a small-town charm without being small. Through Leadership Edmond, Willison was able to see the ins and outs of the way the city operates, and she says she was very impressed and excited for the direction the city is moving.
Willison moved to Edmond in 2012 to attend the University of Central Oklahoma and earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2016. Along the way, she began working at Native Summit (formerly Edmond Summit Company) where she met her husband, Matt. Together, they enjoy spending time outside with their dog, Avery, supporting local businesses and traveling to the mountains as much as possible.
In addition to volunteering with the arts festival committee, she also serves as the vice president of her homeowner’s association and as a kid’s church volunteer at Frontline Edmond. She also serves on the DEBA board as the representative for Leadership Edmond.
