Oklahoma Christian School hosted noted illustrator Mike Wimmer Monday in the Elementary Media Center.

“After reopening our elementary library last Friday, a busy fall season for the library media center will begin with special events planned to emphasize our state’s centennial,” said OCS’s elementary Media Center Specialist Janet Bass.

“Mr. Wimmer’s portraits are featured in our state Capitol and his children’s books have won numerous awards. We are blessed to welcome him to our campus.”

Born and raised in Muskogee, Wimmer has been sketching and painting since age 6. His stepfather brought home paper and cardboard from his job at a box factory for him to draw on while his mother introduced him to the world of books.

“I want to bring my imagination to life so that everyone else can see what I have to say,” he said.

He now lives in Norman with his wife and two children.
