Roadwork on Danforth continues while another stretch of the street’s widening project received much needed funds.

The Capital Projects and Financing Task Force last week approved $1.5 million for the Danforth widening project from Coltrane to North Creek Drive.

Edmond’s Director of Engineering Steve Manek said the project was on the task force’s original list of improvements.

“All we are waiting on is the last easement,” he said.

Meanwhile, another part of Danforth is getting a makeover between Sooner Road and Air Depot.

Keith Stewart, Edmond Field Services Superintendent, said the work consists of milling, base stabilization and overlay of that mile section.

During the resurfacing, he said the road will be closed to through traffic for short periods of time.

“We had hoped to get the work completed by the end of the month,” he said. “But because of the rain we’re going to need a drying out period.”

This project is a joint effort between the City of Edmond and the Oklahoma County District 3. The City of Edmond is supplying the materials and Oklahoma County is providing the labor.
