A number of Edmond churches have special events planned for the public in connection with the Halloween holiday.

Following are some the of events open to the public at area churches this week and next:

Wednesday

• Santa Fe Presbyterian Church, 1603 N. Santa Fe in Edmond, will be invaded by ghosts and goblins from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday during its Halloween Fest (Trick or Treat).

The public is invited to join in the haunting festivities, which will include free hot dogs and candy for the children.

Thursday

• Edmond First Presbyterian Church, 1001 S. Rankin, will have its annual Festifall beginning at 5:30 p.m. Geared for preschoolers, the event will include large inflatables, games, crafts, food and a bake sale. Tickets for individual games are four for $1.

Sunday

• Edmond Church of Christ will have a children’s carnival following evening worship services at about 7 p.m. Events include games and trick-or-treating.

• First United Methodist Church, 305 E. Hurd, is hosting a carnival at noon. Children can attend in costume. Games, crafts and trick-or-treating are some of the activities.

• Memorial Road Church of Christ, 2221 E. Memorial, will have a Children’s Fall Festival beginning at 6 p.m. with trunk-or-treat in the north parking lot of the church.

• New Covenant United Methodist Church, 1700 S. Bryant, is hosting a trunk-or-treat in the church parking lot beginning at 6 p.m. Games and other activities also will be available.

• Peace Lutheran Church, 2600 E. Danforth, will host Hallelujah Holiday from 4-6 p.m. Carnival games, food and trick-or-treating are among the activities.

Children are asked to wear non-scary costumes to the event and bring one large bag of trick-or-treat candy.

Monday

• Members of Cathedral of the Hills will host Lite the Night at seven homes in Edmond. Neighborhood trick-or-treaters are invited to stop by those homes for games, food and candy.

Guests will be given a card asking them to attend a follow-up service at the church Nov. 6, where door prizes including a $100 gift certificate to Game Exchange will be awarded.

The addresses of the Lite the Night hosts are: 125 Lockeport Drive; 18108 Scarlet Oak Lane; 1805 Ryan Way; 318 Benton Road; 17621 Iron Lane; 1405 Woodview Lane and 2716 Overland Way.

• The First Baptist Church of Edmond will sponsor Ark in the Dark as part of the Downtown Edmond Business Association’s trick-or-treat event.

Broadway north of Second Street will close at 3 p.m. Oct. 31 to prepare for DEBA’s annual “Trick or Treat on the Street” event. Children and their parents may trick or treat the downtown merchants from 5-7 p.m.

In addition to candy from business owners, Edmond Electric, the Edmond Police Department and the Edmond Fire Department will be on hand.

Children’s activities including a moonwalk also will be found on Broadway.

• Waterloo Road Baptist Church in north Edmond hosts its annual Fall Frolic Family Festival from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday as an alternative to the usual Trick or Trick of Halloween.

Providing a safe and secure atmosphere for children, babies through sixth grade, the event offers games, food and prizes in the church’s family life center at 3100 E. Waterloo Road.

Again this year, fingerprinting of the children will be offered for the parents to keep as records.

With more than 5,000 prizes to be given away, each child will also leave with a bag of candies. Children are asked to wear non-scary costumes.
