Springtime in Edmond will bring additional trail opportunities for walking enthusiasts. Construction is on target for finishing the extension project.

Progress is being made in the construction of the Spring Creek Trail extension and parking, and the Spring Creek linkage to INTEGRIS Hospital, said Larry Stevens, city manager.

“Construction remains on schedule for a spring dedication and opening for both of these,” Stevens said.

The concrete work is completed on the Spring Creek Trail extension as well as the INTEGRIS Trail. Workers are busy installing asphalt on the trail, Stevens said.

The Spring Creek extension is approximately 2,200 feet long running northwest from Spring Creek Park at Arcadia Lake to the existing portion of Spring Creek Trail that leads to U.S. Interstate 35. The INTEGRIS trail-head parking lot is about 1,300 feet in length, Stevens continued.

“It runs from the west side of INTEGRIS Hospital and also to the existing Spring Creek Trail,” Stevens said.

Both of the 18-foot-wide trails are funded by the 2017 Capital Improvement Sales tax at a cost of a little more than $1 million each.

“It remains on-target for a spring opening,” Stevens said.
