Sewer line work coming to Rankin Street

A small area of Rankin Street will be closed at 9 a.m. Friday for sewer line work.

Work to replace sewer lines under a section of Rankin Street is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Friday. The project is expected to last through the day with completion by 6 pm.

The area of Rankin Street affected is from Seventh Street to Eighth Street. Traffic will not be able to pass through the area during the work, and motorists will need find an alternate route. 

The road will reopen to traffic with temporary repairs, but will be permanently repaved in the coming weeks.

This work is part of the FY14 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project (Phase I) taking place in various locations. Jordan Contractors Inc. is the contractor for the total project with an overall cost of $2,362,517.00.
