OKLAHOMA CITY — She eyed the dusty ground as helping hands lifted her onto the saddle, placed her feet in the oversized stirrups and guided her fingers to their place on the reins. She smiled nervously as she felt the horse’s weight shift impatiently.

“I’m ready,” she said.

Five-year-old Madi Current, of Edmond, rode a horse named Midas for the first time Oct. 17 at Gerry Shepherd’s Covey Creek Cattle Company in South Oklahoma City as part of the 4th Annual Oklahoma National Guard Adjutant General’s Horseback Heroes.

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma City Thunder announced Thursday that it is seeking energetic and talented fans to be a part of the game-night show at Chesapeake Energy Arena as members of the team’s official interactive squad, the Storm Chasers, and as members of the Rain Drops, the team’s junior dance team.

The team will hold auditions for the Storm Chasers at 6 p.m. Sept. 11 and at 10 a.m. for the Rain Drops Sept. 12. Both auditions will take place at the INTEGRIS Blue Development Center in Edmond.
