Oklahoma Christian Academy’s senior leader Tresha Yager scored her 1,000th point Tuesday evening, with the Eagles in the throws of a scorching start to their 2019.
Yager tallied 13 points in Tuesday’s 47-21 win over Heritage Hall. Her career 1,000th point was tied into the win behind Karley Miller’s game-leading 16 points. The two seniors combined to outscore the Lady Chargers 29-21 with the help of a stout defensive effort.
Brianna Wietleman rounded out the double-digit Academy scorers with 10 points on Tuesday.
The momentum carried over for the Lady Eagles into Thursday’s first-round of the Ward Center Classic at Seiling High School. Using another defensive-focused effort to limit Laverne to just 24 game points, Academy held the Lady Tigers to just six points per quarter. This time, though, 10 Lady Eagles registered a point.
Yager led with 12 points, and again Wietleman scored 10. Then Caton Adair (9), Taylor Duncan (8), Karley Miller (6), Maci Sons (3), Madi Jones (3), Shelby Lewis (2), Kyla Gabel (2) and Sydney Duncan (1) all lit up the scoreboard at least once in the blowout win.
Next for the Lady Eagles is Class A No. 9 Vici in Seiling at 5:00 p.m. Friday. Vici is currently 12-2 on the year. Winner of that matchup gets to play in the tournament’s championship game on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
