Number crunching: Oak Tree played slightly harder on Friday, with the field averaging 74.64 strokes. Tom Purtzer and Brad Bryant tied for low score of the day with 67s. Chuck Frithsen’s 88 was the highest score.

Trunk slamming: 77 players made the cut at 6-over par or better. 65 players will be heading home. Four players withdrew, including two who were complaing of heat exhaustion after failing to break 80 in the first round.

Parting gift: Don’t feel too bad for the players that missed the cut - each player that turned in a 36-hole score is guaranteed $1,000.

Tin Cup: Second round leader Peter Jacobsen compared the movie “Tin Cup” to the Senior PGA: “Beating Don Johnson and Kevin Kostner is easy. Beating Gil Morgan is hard.” Jacobsen, who is known as one of the funniest guys on the Champions Tour, played a minor role in the golf classic.
