The University of Central Oklahoma announced today that head football coach Tracy Holland has been relieved of his duties.

Assistant head coach Steve Patterson will take over as interim head coach and the search for a replacement will begin immediately.

“This was a very difficult decision, but one I felt needed to be made at this time in the best interest of the university and our football program,” UCO athletic director Joe Muller said.  “I appreciate the effort that Tracy put into the football program over the past four years and wish him the best.”

Holland was 15-29 in four years at the helm, going 7-4 and winning the Lone Star Conference North Division title in his first season in 2008.  The Bronchos were 8-25 the past three years, finishing off a second straight 2-9 campaign this fall.

UCO competed as an NCAA Division II independent this year and will move into the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association in 2012.
