The Edmond North football team concluded its season in dissapointing fashion with a 49-14 loss on the road at Class 6A No. 5 Ponca City.

Ponca running back Josh Johnson carried 21 times for 180 yards and a pair of touchdowns on runs of two and 92 yards.

The Huskies struggled on the ground rushing just 27 yards on 27 attempts. In the air, North hit on 16 of 31 pass attempts but also tossed four interceptions, including two that were returned 37 and 40 yards for touchdowns.

The Huskies trailed 8-0 after the first frame and 18-0 by halftime. The Wildcats exploded for 24 points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

In the fourth, Cale Stacy hauled in a 72-yard touchdown pass from Clayton Dude and Brett Shuman scored from two yards out to complete North’s scoring. Dude finished with 220 yards in the air.

The Huskies finish the season at 3-7 and fail to make the playoffs for the first tiem since the 1999 season. Ponca finishes the regular season with a 9-1 mark. Tailback Josh Johnson also led all 6A rushers this season for the Wildcats.
