STILLWATER — The Edmond Memorial volleyball team defeated Edmond Santa Fe for the second time in as many weeks on Saturday, this time in the Stillwater Invitational championship match.

Memorial beat Santa Fe 25-22, 25-20, 22-25, 25-21.

“ Overall it was a very good team effort where all starters and non-starters, helped the team win the tournament. I was very happy to see great team effort and unselfish plays,” Memorial head coach Edgar Miraku said.

The Lady Bulldogs rolled to easy wins over Booker T. Washington, Jenks and Enid on their way to the finals, not giving up one game to their competition.

Santa Fe did the same, defeating Norman North, Stillwater, Tulsa Union and Jenks.

“Memorial just outplayed us this weekend. We played hard, we just didn’t have our strongest performance. We need our strongest performance to beat them,” Santa Fe head coach Will Ethridge said.

Memorial’s Karissa Almgren, Kelsey Hancock and Micah Hancock were named to the all-tournament team, as were Santa Fe’s Kylie Easlon and Lacy Reasons.

The Lady Bulldogs took over the top spot in the latest polls, followed by Santa Fe and North.

All three teams will be hosting regionals on Thursday.

Edmond North

The Edmond North volleyball team defeated Bartlesville on Monday night in a make up game, beating them in three games.

The Lady Huskies won 25-20, 25-12, 25-18, in the last match of the regular season. Look for a regional preview story on Wednesday.
