WACO, Texas — Oklahoma Christian's men's cross country team had the highest team grade-point average in its sport in the Heartland Conference, according to the 2018-19 league GPA figures announced Friday.

The OC squad posted a team GPA of 3.47, 0.19 higher than another other team in the conference. Team members for the 2018 season included Brady Aderholt, Caleb Bozarth, Chase Cate, Carlos Maya, Alexander Mejia, Colton Meyers, Nick Parizek, Sawyer Pehkonen, Kelton Reynolds, Trevor Talley, Jelte van Atten and Jake Weith. The Eagles' coach is Wade Miller.

OC had three women's teams finish third in their sport in GPA — softball (3.29), basketball (3.44) and golf (3.65), with the golf squad posting the highest GPA of any OC team. The softball and golf teams qualified for NCAA Division II national competition.

OC competes in 10 sports — baseball, softball and men's and women's basketball, cross country golf and soccer — sponsored by the Heartland. Among those teams, OC had an overall GPA of 3.09 — 3.31 for the women and 2.94 for the men.

When including all of OC's 14 varsity and two club teams (the 10 Heartland sports along with men's and women's bowling, swimming and track and field) the overall GPA was 3.075 – 3.25 for the women and 2.961 for the men.
