LOUISVILLE, Kent. – Central Oklahoma’s Carrie Abrams and Jayden Chestnut earned second-team All-Central Region honors by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, it was announced this week.
It’s the second straight year for both players to nab second-team honors by the NFCA.
Abrams led the team with a .410 batting average and was named Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Player of the Year for the second straight season. The senior left fielder had 10 doubles, five triples and 28 runs batted in while committing just one error in 88 fielding chances.
Chestnut led the Bronchos in the pitching circle with a 19-6 record, two saves and a 1.97 earned run average. The junior right-hander struck out 127 batters in 152.2 innings and opponents hit just .188 against her.
UCO finished the season 34-22, just missing out on a seventh straight trip to the NCAA Division II national tournament.
