As part of the Danforth Water Line Project and previously scheduled railroad track maintenance by Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF), Danforth Road will be closed in both directions between Broadway and Thomas Drive after 5 p.m. Friday, March 25.

The section is expected to re-open April 5, with cooperative weather and completion of the track maintenance by BNSF.

Work on the project — which coincides with BNSF’s planned closure of the crossing at Danforth as part of their scheduled crossing maintenance — accommodates construction of part of the new 24-inch water line across Danforth. Temporary access will be maintained for the businesses and residents in the work zone.

No through traffic will be possible while the work is being completed. Motorists are encouraged to find an alternate route if possible.

The $9.2 million Danforth Water Line project upsizes the water line running along Danforth Road from the existing Danforth Water tower and soccer Fields to the UCO area. Once complete, the Danforth and College Water towers will be demolished.
